Hi Friends and supporters of Rainbow Missions!
This is Craig Walker, Chairman of RM. I want to thank you for your financial and prayer support this past year. RM is faithfully moving forward helping disabled children and their families in China. Last year we conducted training for our Special Ed teachers in Hong Kong. That training was very successful; we decided to conduct follow-up training again this year to train our teachers to support their students’ needs.
China is continuing to open up since the pandemic began over four years ago. We will be visiting our field workers to provide encouragement and learn how we can best support their ministries.
We are also planning to visit Taiwan to consider opportunities to serve disabled children in a different environment. Future newsletters will keep you aware of these new service opportunities.
We are continuing with our bi-weekly ABA classes to best support teacher and parental needs. The classes have been well attended and frequently extend beyond the scheduled time to answer questions. The training needs are important to provide immediate guidance for the challenges teachers and parents are experiencing.
RM is also connecting with other local organizations such as Joni and Friends to determine if we can jointly support projects to meet children's needs. We are excited to see how we can merge our expertise to spiritually/physically support disabled children’s needs.
We are looking to expand our board of directors to provide support to our service areas. As we grow our influence in Asia we need to ensure consistent guidance is provided to ensure we move forward using the same philosophy and strategy.

PLANTING HOPES IN SPRING
The spring of 2024 has arrived. Although in northern China, the cold still lingers, the young participants of the Rainbow Project, eagerly awaiting spring, have begun their search for it. With their own hands, they dig soil and sow plants, experiencing the joy of spring. More importantly, they are sowing hope. Each one of them is filled with hope for the new year, for themselves, for their families... In every child's heart lies their own spring. Let us join them in experiencing spring, embracing hope, and setting sail towards dreams together.
2024 Training Camp Open
In the week of April 15 to 21, 2024, RM field staff and special education teachers from China participated in RM's 2nd Hong Kong Special Education Teachers Training Camp, which was co-sponsored by North Point Alliance Church. During the week, we visited different special education schools and had meaningful dialogue with the school teachers, therapists, and principals. All activities helped broaden our horizons, enriched our teaching ideas and strategies, inspired us to use creative methods to maximise our limited resources for the benefits of our special needs children--making the impossible possible! We were also deeply touched by and grateful for the love and humility of our supporters in HK. Through their actions of love, we witnessed God's mighty works among the lost and the least. This week's learning experience has been empowering every special education teacher with full confidence in teaching. Embracing a heart filled with God's unending love, we are looking forward to applying what we have learned to better supporting special needs children and families in the field. May the Lord continue to bless and lead us to reach out to more people in needs through our ministries. Thank you!

An Unexpected Journey With RM

At the upcoming RM fundraising dinner events on September 21 and 22, 2024, we will offer a variety of products (including delicious homemade food) in our charity sales. Lissa and Sylvia will show you the details in this video. All profits from the charity sales will be used to support the tuition of visually impaired college students and rehabilitation training fees for children/teenagers on the autism spectrum. 2024 RM annual fundraising dinners
Praise God! Rainbow Missions’ (RM’s) 2024 annual fundraising dinners were held and enjoyed by many on September 21 and 22 at China Harbor Restaurant in Seattle, WA by beautiful Lake Union. Everything went smoothly and was full of God’s amazing grace.
The dinner events took place just after the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the weather was sunny and warm.
Enthusiastic volunteers arrived early to help set up the venue and arrange the exquisite homemade food, beverages, and gifts for charity sales. Around five o'clock, guests arrived with excitement and anticipation. Friends gathered to celebrate and support God’s work in the field for special needs groups.
The theme of this year's fundraising events was "An Unexpected Journey.” We thank the worship team for bringing down His presence. Through her video, YY shared her journey as a full-time RM field staff over the past 7 years. She shared her calling, struggles, and spiritual growth through God’s grace and blessings despite difficulties along the way. She saw these as all in God’s plan for her -- just like the lyrics of the hymn chosen that evening: “Because He lives, we can face tomorrow.” We are extremely grateful and deeply moved by the Lord’s guidance and divine interventions in the lives of His beloved children.
Vivien Koo, mother of a youth with special needs, and Craig Walker, chairman of the RM Board, offered touching background information and practical suggestions for us to support and embrace the underprivileged.
Vovo Cong, a teenager who immigrated from China to the United States less than a year ago, sang "500 Miles," a classic folk song from the 1960s. With his beautiful voice and lively rhythm, he brought us back in time, sitting on the old train, miles upon miles, moving toward the unknown. We, too, may sometimes feel confused and hesitant. Imagine children with special needs and their parents. Their daily hardships and challenges are far beyond our imagination.
I am particularly grateful to you for never giving up, for being there with us in prayer, for your generous financial support, and for your love in action.
We don’t know about the days ahead, but because He lives, we can face tomorrow. Because of your partnership, even though the road ahead may be long and challenging, we will be loyal to God’s calling to serve special needs children/youth/college students and their families in the field, and faithfully and bravely move forward. Thank you for your love and support.

Hello! Eighteen years old.
The autumn sky is clear and blue, the sun shines softly and warmly on the earth. Autumn is poetry. It is the golden wheat waving in the wind; it is also the season hard-working people look forward to. Farmers pray
for a good harvest, gardeners hope their young saplings will become strong and tall trees, and every parent hopes their baby will slowly but surely grow from a babbling infant to a curious and active toddler, from a small child to a young adult. Children are always the deepest concern of parents' hearts. In their young lives, 18 years old is a turning point, a new start for blooming youth.
With the sound of soft music, the 18-year-old or coming-of-age ceremony specially organized by Angel House for the “youth of the stars” kicked off in the golden hall filled with blue balloons. More than a
dozen youth and young adults, all dressed in formal wear and accompanied by their parents, walked on the red carpet. They sat quietly in their seats and looked at photos of their growing years that occasionally appeared on the big screen. Their young faces still occasionally revealed a hint of shyness. Each family came to the stage to share. Everyone witnessed together and blessed one another. Perhaps only those who have walked hand in hand know the challenges and even despair behind each tortuous story...
More than 10 years ago, a mother came to the platform with an innocent and lovely girl. Desperate and helpless, she prepared to jump off with her child, lying on the rails to end the torture and pain caused by their cruel reality. At this critical moment, the girl, for the first time in her life, said, "Mom" in a childlike and clear voice. The mother was totally awakened. She looked at her beautiful and well-behaved daughter and tearfully held her tightly in her arms.
"Yes, even though the child is sick, I have no right to deprive her of her life!" She took her child to a local church community, which eventually started a support group called the Sunshine Club for parents with
children on the autism spectrum, the predecessor of Angel House. Thank God for His loving care and mercy! During the start-up process, funds were scarce. Rainbow Missions (RM) on the other side of the
ocean promptly extended a helping hand. Eventually the Angel Home Rehabilitation Center for Autistic Children was established. In the face of various difficulties in China, the challenges were great. There’s
annual rent, operation costs, teacher's salaries, and continuing education training. There are also tuition and rehab training fees for individual children/youth and Christmas gifts and a dinner celebration at
the end of each year. RM has been supporting this group, which had been forgotten and abandoned by their community for more than 10 years. It is such a gift from God to give special needs children/youth a
warm and comfortable learning environment and a group of teachers who work tirelessly to teach and help them explore possibilities for the future. Currently Changchun Angel Home has a professional teaching system, an excellent team of teachers, and a reputation highly recognized by parents. This year it opened a café offering simple meals. With the help of teachers, the children have their own division of
labor and perform their duties -- successfully realizing their classroom to employment dream!
The most beautiful gift in the world is love. Love comes from God, who guides us forward every moment, every day, and every eighteen-year-old.
Christmas Giving
Dear Friends and Supporters,
What brings relief and joy to parents’ hearts, especially those with children on the autism spectrum? It’s watching them become more self-sufficient, work well with others, learn and apply self-care and on-the-job skills, and be able to earn an income. These goals are being reached in CC, China. A cafe operated by the autism center supported by RM opened earlier this year. Several of the students have been trained to prepare and serve simple meals and keep the café clean and tidy. It attracts many, especially nearby university students. Because of its popularity, we hope to enlarge the cafe to accommodate the growing number of patrons and offer opportunities for more trainees.
This Christmas and upcoming year, you will have an opportunity to not only offer Christmas gifts to the children, college students, teachers and RM staff in China; you could also help expand the café and increase the number of participants in the training program. In addition, your gift would go toward medical emergencies and teacher education. We hope to raise $100,000 for these blessings and needs.
