“I Want to Go to School “

Today I am going to tell you a story about Jiaxin's. Jiaxin's dad met an American Christian couple in a bookstore who were serving in an orphanage in China. The couple had found an abandoned baby on the roadside and were in the process of adoption. Jiaxin’s dad helped as interpreter. Their testimony and good deeds motivated him God’s calling to study theology and prepare himself to serve the Lord.

Jiaxin’s mom believed in Christ as a child.  The two met at church. After they married, she served as a volunteer in an orphanage and supported a college students fellowship at a local church.

Jiaxin was born in 2012.  His sister is 1 year younger. The lived happily until Jiaxin, at the age of 3, was diagnosed with autism and developmental delay.  To better support Jiaxin with early intervention, both parents participated in rehab training. There they met many other parents of special needs children and they helped organize parents’ groups to study and support one another. Eventually they helped bring more than 10 parents to church and accept the Christian faith.

Because Jiaxin couldn’t attend regular school, his dad stayed home to take care of him.  Mom’s monthly salary of 5,500 yuan was just enough to pay for the basic needs of their family of 4. They rented a very small apartment in Changchun. Over the past two years they haven’t been able to afford new clothing for the children nor home internet service.

Jiaxin participated in trial classes at the Angel's House Autism Rehab Center. People there suggested they apply for RM sponsorship.  They declined because it was a difficult time for everyone during the pandemic.   They wanted to save the opportunity for families with greater needs.   As such, Jiaxin’s dad continued to stay home to take care of his son.

Whenever Jiaxin watched his sister leave for school, he’d say, "Mom, I want to go to school also!".  They would reply, "We’re looking for a school for you." As the days passed, he kept asking, "Mom, have you found a school for me yet?".   Every time his mom couldn't help crying silently.  She and her husband were heartbroken.

They finally contact RM and joined our sponsorship program. Jiaxin now happily goes to the autism center and receives systematic rehabilitative training. Dad can also start looking for a suitable job and support the family.

Thank God! With your prayer and financial support, this family, like many others, can gradually get out of their predicament and usher in a bright future. Thank you all for your support!
