Have something to say

Hello friends of Rainbow Missions.  My name is Craig Walker, and I’m the Chairman of RM.  I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year.

Hi, I’m Lissa Law.  I’m a Board member.  Happy New Year!

Hello, my name is Wendy Xi, RM Board member.  Happy New Year!

Craig:  I have the opportunity to share with you some exciting new training that we’re going to roll out to our teachers that work in our autism centers.  They’re going to be given an opportunity to go to Hong Kong to be able to receive new training that they’ll be able to bring back to their students at their facilities.  This training is going give them new capabilities and new techniques for them to be able to take back and work with their students.  Also as exciting, we’ve arranged for several schools to open up where the students will get an opportunity to learn how to be able to apply the new tools that they will have in the classroom setting.  The training is going to be held this coming April – April 23rd – for about a week.  It will be a real good opportunity for them to learn, to be able to ask questions, and to make sure they really solidify all the training that they’re being provided.  They will then take that back and share that with the teachers that were not able to come out and support this training.  So, this will be a very good opportunity for them to learn new techniques, and we’re excited to seeing it be put into practice.  Thank you.

Wendy:  Hello, everybody.  We’re extremely excited to have 2023 as China is slowly opening up and RM will have more opportunities to interact with a few staff.  We’re strengthening our partnership with headquarters and the field, particularly in the areas of volunteer support.  We’re adding more resources in behavioral training.  We have volunteer Iris who is based in LA.  She has a special degree in applied behavioral training called AVA  Since March 2022, Iris has been providing online training to the staff using the AVA model to modify children’s behaviors, and we have seen a lot of success in that area.  Iris will continue to provide that online service to our field staff, teachers, and parents in 2023.    All the children that RM is serving have special needs.  We are very fortunate to have volunteer Vivian Koo.  She has a degree in Special Education.  Vivian Koo will be providing online job training to our field staff starting in 2023.  In addition, we will be adding two more volunteers:  Mina and Benjamin.  Mina and Benjamin are based in Hong Kong and have raised an autistic child themselves.   Both Mina and Benjamin have first-hand experience and knowledge in training special needs children.  They’re committed and compassionate to passing their knowledge and experience to our field workers through field visits on a quarterly basis.  As a matter of fact, starting in 2023 Hong Kong will become RM’s Asian operations center which will provide strategic guidance and support to our field workers in China.

Lissa:  Thank you, Craig and Wendy, for all the exciting things happening in RM.  Now it’s my turn to invite you to join us in impacting people’s lives.  This year, we are going to resume our fundraiser event in the fall.  The fundraising team is working really hard on finding the theme, the venue, and the dates, and we need you to join us in helping with the planning of our events and for the actual event itself.  We will also have charity sales and food sales at our event.  We need help in all aspects of the event like setting up and taking down the event and food preparation.  We look forward to you joining us and helping us, and we hope to see you at the event!
