The Rainbow inspired me to become someone willing to give and share love.

It’s been four years since I first connected with Rainbow Missions—a journey that has deeply transformed my life. I still remember the summer of 2021, when I received my university acceptance letter. While I felt excited, I was also overwhelmed with uncertainty about the future. That was when I met Sister YanYan, who came into my life like a warm light. Her support went far beyond financial help—she cared for me in countless thoughtful ways.

Since then, the uncles and aunties of Rainbow Missions have been constant companions in my life. On every holiday and birthday, they sent heartfelt wishes and gifts, bringing warmth and comfort to my years of studying away from home.

Over the past four years, I’ve studied hard and actively participated in school activities. I received scholarships, performed in music concerts, and even had the honor of playing saxophone on the stage of the National Centre for the Performing Arts. None of this would have been possible without the encouragement and support from Rainbow Missions behind the scenes.

Now, as I prepare to graduate and begin a new chapter, I’ve made it my mission to give back. I hope to use my passion for saxophone to serve others and help those in need. Rainbow Missions didn’t just support me—it inspired me to become someone who gives, too.

As I look ahead, I carry your love with me. One day, I hope to meet the Rainbow Missions family in person and share just how much you’ve helped me grow.

Rainbow Missions  ignited my dream
huang_edited.jpg

I am almost completely blind and live with vitiligo. At 41, I was admitted to Binzhou Medical University—an achievement made possible through the support of Rainbow Missions. Their funding allowed me to complete my studies without interruption, and even during my internship, their assistance helped cover essential living expenses.

After graduation, I began working at a massage clinic in Guangzhou. At the same time, I’ve been studying diligently for the national medical licensing exam. I work on weekends and study during the week, determined to pass on my first try. My goal in studying traditional Chinese medicine isn’t just to support myself—I hope to give back to society and be a role model for my daughter, who is now in high school and just beginning to develop her own interest in traditional Chinese medicine.

I often say: I am like a rocket, and Rainbow Missions provided the fuel that ignited my launch. Your support gave me the power to rise and the confidence to dream. I’m truly grateful to Rainbow Missions for lighting the spark of hope in my life—helping me see light in the darkness, and stay passionate and persistent through every challenge.

I must hold strong beliefs
and embrace happiness
I want to pass on
this love and support
I’ve learned to help others

I look back on my journey as a beneficiary of Rainbow Missions, and my heart is filled with deep gratitude. Their support not only helped me complete my studies and chase my dreams, but also gave me the strength to begin a professional life of my own. I know none of this would have been possible without their help.

I’ve now worked at Beijing Massage Hospital for six years. My outpatient work is steady, and I was recently transferred to the new Chaoyang campus, where I witnessed the hospital’s growth into a top-tier traditional Chinese medicine institution. With each step, my clinical skills and confidence have continued to grow.

In 2023, I entered a joyful new chapter—marriage. And in 2025, we will welcome our first child. These blessings fill me with hope and excitement for the future. I know that the support I received from Rainbow Missions helped build the foundation for this life I now cherish.

To the students still supported by Rainbow Missions: treasure this opportunity. Study hard, face challenges bravely, and believe in your potential. A disability does not define you—your mindset does. Keep moving forward, and you’ll find your own springtime bloom.

After graduating from Changchun University, I returned to Chongqing and worked for four years as a music teacher at the Chongqing Special Education Center. To continue growing, I later pursued advanced studies at a music conservatory in Beijing. I’ve since moved back to my hometown, Chengdu, where I now teach vocal music at training centers and cultural institutions, while also performing in both community and commercial events.

My life revolves around music and teaching, and I truly cherish the time I spend with my family—traveling with my parents and enjoying the small joys of daily life. I’ve also adopted an adorable cat who brings a lot of fun and warmth to my home.

I’m deeply grateful for the support and care I received from Rainbow Missions during my university years. It filled my educational journey with warmth and blessings. Today, I hope to pass on that same love and encouragement in my own way.

I’m now in my fifth year of work, and as I look back, I see how much I’ve grown. In the beginning, I was filled with anxiety and uncertainty about the future. But as I gained experience and solved more problems, I became more confident. Today, if I ever face unemployment, I know I would choose to take a break and calmly look for the next opportunity—no longer afraid of what’s ahead.

With a more stable career, I began to explore relationships. I once missed a chance due to lack of confidence, but thankfully, we crossed paths again. Now, as we learn to navigate the ups and downs of a shared life, I no longer shy away from future challenges. Marriage is more than love—it comes with responsibilities and the unknown. But I believe that as long as we work together, we can overcome anything.

I’m deeply grateful to Rainbow Missions and Sister Yanyan for their care. The support I received during my studies lifted a huge financial burden and helped shape who I am. From Rainbow, I learned that helping others brings not only joy but also a deep sense of confidence and fulfillment.

Looking ahead, I hope to be a loving, open-minded parent and provide my future children with a happy and healthy environment. May Rainbow Missions continue its meaningful work, and may every supporter be blessed with peace and joy.

Thank you, Rainbow, for giving me motivation and warmth.

Dear Aunties and Uncles of Rainbow Missions,

It's been a while—I've missed you all dearly! This May, I got married to someone I met during my internship, and now we work at the same organization in Beijing. Since stepping into the working world, I've come to understand what it really means to “grow up”—when your worries shift from passing exams to making choices for your future and family.

I remember reading To Live as a child and finding it dull. But now I get it: living is about embracing life’s little messes and still finding joy in them—like watching a movie, buying small treats, or simply cheering yourself on.

Adulthood hasn’t always matched the dreams I had as a student, but we keep moving forward, smiling through it all. My father and I continue to carry deep gratitude in our hearts—for the support of Rainbow Missions, and for the kindness of people like Sister Yan and Sister Xiaona, whom I met during that unforgettable visit to Chongqing.

Wishing you good health and happiness always!

After graduation, Chen Xingyu and I moved to Xiamen, balancing work and study until we both successfully earned our medical licenses. In January 2024, we were married, and today our daughter, Yuelin, is five months old—wide-eyed, reaching out for cuddles. Her grandparents are here too, helping care for her with love.

I still remember the moment, ten years ago, when I received my first scholarship package from Rainbow Missions. It wasn’t just financial aid—it was a message of hope. Rainbow Missions taught us that hard work leads to possibility. Today, we run a community clinic for traditional Chinese medicine, using acupuncture and herbal remedies to care for our neighbors. This steady, meaningful work is rooted in the encouragement you gave us years ago.

As we step into a new year, I wish you and your family peace, good health, and a life that, like aged tangerine peel, becomes richer and sweeter with time.

Thank you, Rainbow Missions. Your support continues to shape our lives in the most heartfelt ways.

Over the past two years, I’ve been building a small startup in Beijing. I formed a team and set up my own studio in an office building—a space shaped by my vision and values. Work has felt fulfilling and peaceful. Although the pandemic dealt a heavy blow to the acupuncture and massage industry I trained in, we stayed resilient through the tough times, and our results even exceeded expectations.

Since graduating, I’ve remained in Beijing. As a steady group of loyal patients grew, my like-minded partners and I embarked on this new journey together. Looking back, the encouragement and support I received from Rainbow Missions gave me the courage to face challenges head-on. It also inspired deep personal growth and valuable insight along the way.

If the opportunity arises, I would love to share this journey through video, to reflect on the path that brought me here. Thank you, Rainbow Missions, for the warmth and strength you've given me. Your support continues to be a source of lasting motivation.

What I felt was not only care and help, but also equality and respect

The Rainbow lit up my world and ignited my dreams

My name is Zhu Jiaxin, a 2018 acupuncture and Tuina major from Changchun University. I’m deeply grateful for the support Rainbow Missions gave me during my college years. Nearly two years have passed since graduation, but I still often think back to that time filled with warmth and love—especially the care of Ms. Chen, who led our Rainbow program. At Rainbow, I received not just help, but also a rare sense of equality and respect.

After graduation, I returned to my hometown to work at a hospital. Life has settled into a regular rhythm, nine to five. While I get along well with my colleagues, I sometimes still feel a bit out of place. Transportation in my area is inconvenient—it takes two hours and several transfers just to get home, so I only return once a week. Even before graduation, I often felt uncertain about the future. Now, with aging parents and a grandmother in poor health, those worries have only deepened.

As we welcome the Lunar New Year, I want to send my heartfelt wishes across the ocean to everyone at Rainbow Missions. Thank you for the hope and dignity you gave me. May the days ahead be filled with peace, health, and the same light you’ve shared with so many students like me.

After graduation, I returned to my hometown to serve at the village committee, helping elders and neighbors with everyday needs, big and small. Along the way, I’ve witnessed my share of performative “charity”—supplies taken back after photos are snapped, or gifts quietly reserved for insiders. That’s why Rainbow Missions stands out as something truly special to me.

You’ve shown me that genuine kindness still exists in this world—compassion that’s not driven by fame or gain, but by a simple desire to bring warmth to others. Rainbow Missions may not shine like the sun, but it lights up hearts in quiet, lasting ways. It restores my faith in goodness, reminding me what real love looks like.

Thank you for everything you’ve done. Your presence has helped me see the true face of care—and inspired me to pass it on.

Looking back on my years of study, the journey has been anything but easy. As a visually impaired student, I’ve always known I would need to work harder than most. But during my most difficult and uncertain moments, it was Rainbow Missions that gave me the greatest support and encouragement.

I still remember the joy of receiving my university acceptance letter—followed quickly by the worry over how to afford tuition. It was the timely care and financial support from Rainbow’s team that gave me the courage to move forward. In those early days on campus, when I felt lost and alone, it was Yanyan’s patient listening and heartfelt sharing that helped me find my footing again.

I’ll never forget a quiet afternoon conversation with Yanyan , when she said, “When there’s love in your heart, there’s light in your eyes.” That single sentence lit the path ahead for me. Before my internship in Beijing, I was anxious and unsure—but Nancy stepped in, secured the support I needed, and gave me the confidence to go.

These moments of listening, care, and action have shown me that there truly are people in this world who quietly stand by, protecting dreams.

Thank you, Rainbow Missions, for walking beside me through it all. You’ve brightened my world and brought light to the dreams in my heart. I will keep moving forward—with hope, with passion—and shine in the space that belongs to me.

Because of you, my sky is bluer, and the love you’ve passed on will carry far into the future.
