Happy new year!
My name is Wendy Qi. It has been my privilege to serve on the Rainbow Missions board since 2020. This year, I am honored to become the new chairman of Rainbow Missions organization.
Rainbow Missions has been faithfully serving the disabled children and family in China for the last 20 years! Many lives have been transformed because of your financial and prayer support!
First of all, it is my honor to introduce our new board member: Iris Lai. Iris has been volunteering for Rainbow Missions since Spring 2022 as an expert in the field of Applied Behavioral Analysis. Iris has been consistently providing online training to our field worker, teachers and parents for the last 3 years. Her impact to provide quality training to help our special needs children has been significant. We are honored to have Iris to join Rainbow Missions as our newest board member. Her area of expertise and her passion to serve will be great addition to Rainbow Missions. Craig Walker has been the chairman of Rainbow Missions for the last 7 years. We are sad to announce that Craig has decided to leave the board as of Jan 1 2025 to spend more time with his family. Craig has been a tremendous leader for Rainbow Missions as well as my own personal spiritual mentor. His passion to serve and strong leadership will be greatly missed. Lissa Law and Tina Eng will continue remaining on our board. We are so fortunate to have both Lissa and Tina
to help us drive strategic decision for Rainbow Missions. Pastor Rain Chan will remain as our executive director for Rainbow Missions, setting direction and running day to day operations. In 2024 we were excited to bring 3 new staff members to Rainbow Missions to support our headquarter function. Amanda, who is our new executive assistant. Youwei, who will continue manage our finance function, and Jian Hua will manage our website/newsletter.
Field staff are critical resource for Rainbow Missions to connect with our local organizations, students and families. Nancy, who has been our field staff for a number of years, will continue provide critical support for Chang Chun Angel House Autism Rehab Center, and the visually impaired students at Chang Chun University and Binzhou Medical University. YY, who has been our key resource to support special needs students in Shen Zhen Shuyu Rehab Center, is moving to Montreal Canada with her family this year. YY will be continue to support Rainbow Missions critical projects relating to our 20th anniversary celebration, as we look for her backfill in the field.
As we look forward to 2025, we are excited to continue partnering with our field organization such as HK North Point Alliance Church to provide training program or special education teachers from the field. In addition to the training program, in 2025, we will invite some parents and their special needs children to attend a camp for special needs families in HK.
As we continue to strengthen our partnership with existing organizations in China and HK, we are also exploring options to expand our services locally by connecting with local nonprofit organizations serving children in similar needs.
God has been faithful to Rainbow Missions for last 20 years as we travelled with Him meeting and serving people who have special needs physically, mentally and emotionally. As we are moving forward in 2025, there is so much more work to do to Glorify God’s Love and Grace.

The following is Zhigang’s story:
Hello everyone, I am Zhigang. I’m very glad to meet you online. I haven’t seen you for many years. I’m now in Guangzhou. I am very thankful to be involved with Rainbow Missions (RM).I arrived at the School of Special Education of Changchun University in 2012. That year, because my family‘s financial situation was very difficult, I received a lot of care and help from RM.
I was born in Fujian to a Hakka family. Both of my parents were farmers. My mother was also visually impaired and my older sister attended college. I was introduced to Uncle Peter by a classmate and then joined the RM family. Since my sophomore year, I’ve been supported and helped by RM for tuition. During those years, our RM uncles and aunts would come to Changchun to visit us each year until we graduated from college.
During those years in Changchun, the RM uncles and aunts were always concerned about us and helped us. Without RM’s support and help,the pressures in study and life could have been unbearable – to ourselves and also our families. RM supported us until we graduated from college and gave us care and encouragement.
I was hired to work in a hospital in Guangzhou in 2017 and continue to live in that great city. The support and encouragement from RM over the past years gave me the desire to help others. RM gave me the insight and confidence to “pass on love.” I often volunteer or lead volunteer teams. Just as RM did for me, I want to hold the umbrella for others caught in the rain. The team I lead has helped more than 20,000 people! I also teach in a junior college of a special ed school. While I pass on the knowledge, I want to encourage more young people to join us to pass on love, continue to do good deeds, and transform this spirit into a force and a fire to illuminate the road for those who are still in darkness. Thank you all.

A Visit to the Capital
In February 2025, our field staff member Nancy had the opportunity to visit our sponsored visually impaired college students in Beijing.
As a freshman at college, Xin Yi, is a shy and rather introverted girl.

Beijing is cold. I can't let go of the roses in my hand. Beijing is always a very busy city.
Dong Haiyu, a CCU graduate, works in the same massage parlor with her loving husband who has some vision. Their love for one another motivates them to stay in Beijing.
Beijing's subways are always full of people.
Zhang Zhong works at the Fortune Center in Beijing. He is hardworking, smart and enthusiastic.
In the evening, I had dinner with Zhang Zhong and Li Jiaqi, also a CCU graduate.
"Hello, RM aunties and uncles, my name is Zhang Zhong. I graduated in 2018 at Changchun University -- class of 2018. I am working in a community hospital in Beijing. Because of the help of RM uncles and aunties while I was in college, I was very blessed and learned a great deal. Your help enabled me to find a great job after graduation. Thank you for your help over the years. I hope we can meet in person someday.”
“Hello, everyone, my name is Li Jiaqi. I graduated from Changchun University 2 - 3 years ago and I’m working now. Life is never easy, so I especially thank you for your help and support over the past years. Because of your help, I fully experienced and felt your warmth, love and concern. Currently, work and life are relatively smooth. Thank you very much. I’d love to meet and greet you in the days ahead, learn what you're doing, and sit with you someday. “
The morning I left, I went to see Ning Zhiyuan. Facing his upcoming graduation, Zhiyuan said he wanted to continue onto graduate school.
"We welcome RM uncles and aunties to come to Beijing for fun.”
Beijing has many opportunities, is inclusive and has relatively well-developed barrier-free facilities, giving them a sense of belonging.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to visit students on behalf of RM. I always feel sad to leave but look forward to seeing them again in the future.
May God’s grace always be with them.

Thank God! Today we are blessed with a beautiful environment and wonderful weather as we gather to share our reflections from the service trip we took in late May—visiting children with special needs, their families, and their teachers in China.
Each of our team members will share today:
Why did we choose to participate in this ministry? And what hopes do we carry for it?

This is my very first field visit. I believe the main purpose of this trip is to share God’s love with the children and families whom Rainbow Mission has supported for many years.It is a privilege to be with them in person and to witness their growth.
We love because God first loved us.
My hope is to learn and to experience—to learn from the children how they face challenges, and from the parents and teachers how they overcome frustrations.I also want to learn from my teammates, some of whom are special education teachers and therapists.Most importantly, I want to experience humility and the love of God more deeply.
This will be my fifth visit. Each trip has gone far beyond my expectations, and I’ve learned so much from them.I look forward to another meaningful journey. I hope to use my occupational therapy skills in some way.
But even if I don’t, just being with the children and loving them as Jesus would is what matters most.That’s what I want to share: Jesus loves them, and I do too.

As a parent of a child with autism and also a special education teacher, I feel especially connected to the work of Rainbow Missions.
I’m excited to travel with the team this time.
I hope to share with the local families and children, but more importantly, to listen—to hear their needs, understand their hearts, and respond with care.
In 2014, I went to Changchun with Rainbow Missions and met many students.I saw how their lives were changed through our support, and how we brought them hope.
In 2017, I was also blessed to go to Yunnan with a short-term mission team. The children there lived very difficult lives—many of them were orphans or left-behind children.Now that Rainbow Missions has a new team and is expanding into new ministries, I believe we will be able to offer even more help, enabling the children there to grow up with better support.

RM Field Visit in May (Part 1)
It was a sunny day in May at the train station in Hong Kong that connects to mainland China.
Our group consisted of five people, including a little girl who was barely four years old. We embarked on this long-awaited journey amidst the crowded masses.

We’ve all heard the saying, “It takes ten years to grow a tree, but a hundred years to nurture a person.” In fact, the Bible has a similar expression: we plant, we water, but it is God who makes things grow. God’s work in the lives of children with special needs has been truly wonderful.

Though those are some reasons that I continue to serve through Rainbow Missions, It’s because people that are in need, but it’s also relationships, I’ve gone and seen young children grow up and they ‘ve become taller than me and they're very appreciative. Especially their parents because we have given them hope and we have been able to help.

I find that what is the most challenging is that I always think that we will not make the numbers that we will make. But God has always provided us with a greater number and every year, I’m surprised at how much God has blessed us with and I'm so happy that we're always able to provide for the children that we support. Xiaoping Fu's Journey of Rebirth
In early May this year, the Rainbow Missions Service Team set out on a visit to Yunnan.
What was supposed to be a routine trip
unexpectedly led them to a boy whose fate had taken a difficult turn.
His name is Xiaoping Fu.He lives with his grandmother,
in a dilapidated house,relying on each other to survive.
Though already 14, he was the height of a seven- or eight-year-old.
All because of a steel plate in his spine that should have been removed years ago.
Removing the steel plate was urgent—
but the high surgery costs,the family’s financial hardship,and the limited medical resources in the regionmade the situation nearly hopeless.
Then Rainbow Missions Stepped In
They provided full supportand embarked with him on a difficult journey to seek medical care...
