Adu lives with her parents and older sister in a small village in Fugong County, Nujiang Prefecture, Yunnan Province. They are part of the Lisu ethnic group. More than a century ago, British missionary James O. Fraser brought the Gospel to this remote mountain region, and God's love has continued to transform lives throughout these valleys.

Today, Adu's family calls this blessed place home. Adu is seven years old. Her parents are farmers, and her older sister is currently attending college.

Adu's mother shared that shortly after she was born, Adu spent an entire month in an incubator. Doctors later discovered fluid in her brain and recommended surgery. Sadly, because of the family's financial hardship, they were unable to afford the operation. Unable to speak and with very limited strength in her arms and legs, Adu has spent much of her childhood in and out of hospitals.

In June 2025, Teacher Chan and Teacher Vivien visited Adu and her mother at Liuku Hospital, bringing encouragement, prayer, and hope during a very difficult time. At first, Adu was frightened of strangers. But Rainbow coworker Ana faithfully visited her, played with her, and patiently taught her simple skills. Little by little, Adu began to trust those around her. She became less afraid, started talking a little more, and her precious smile slowly returned.

This past June, Adu suddenly became much weaker and was no longer able to hold up her head. She was admitted to the county hospital for evaluation and treatment, but despite the doctors' efforts, her condition did not improve, and the cause remained unknown.

On July 2, 2026, Rainbow Mission once again helped sponsor Adu and her family to travel to Kunming for specialized medical care. Adu is now in the intensive care unit. Doctors have diagnosed her with severe scoliosis, hydrocephalus (fluid on the brain), and a serious lung infection. She urgently needs surgery, with an estimated medical cost of RMB 100,000. We earnestly pray that Adu will receive the treatment she needs and experience God's healing.

We also hope that more people will join us in surrounding Adu and her family with love, prayers, and practical support. We look forward to the day when we can see her bright, innocent smile once again. Thank you for caring for children with special needs and their families in China.
