Dear RM Family, After more than three years of the pandemic, we will finally be able to meet with you in person this fall and share God's miraculous deeds over the past few years among those with special needs in China. Praise God! Although the pandemic was very severe and we experienced many challenges in our service to others, nothing can hinder the fulfillment of God's promise! We currently have three full-time staff working in China to develop and support our ministry there. In 2022, RM established the SY Rainbow training center for teenagers on the autism spectrum and hired 2 special ed teachers and 1 staff person to support them. We continue to fund services at the rehabilitation center in CC. Partnering with a local church, we held our first special education teacher’s training camp in Hong Kong in April 2023 and sponsored 8 on-the-field special ed teachers to attend. Through various activities, they learned and were able to put into practice skills to become better teachers. They were profoundly inspired and encouraged by the commitment and dedication of those who have been serving those with special needs in schools and churches. We continue subsidizing the tuition of visually impaired college students and caring for their life development, sponsoring children with autism or cerebral palsy to receive professional rehabilitation treatment, and going alongside their parents so they can experience God's grace amid challenges. We are especially thankful that at the end of July 2023, Hayden Wang, one of the visually impaired students we sponsored for many years who graduated in 2017, worked hard to create a social enterprise called "Hei Le,” which aims to guide and train visually impaired college graduates to explore different possibilities and directions in their career development. Since March 2022, we have been offering an online training course every other week in applied behavior analysis for our on-the-field special education teachers and parents to receive professional guidance and support by an ABA specialist. It has been very well received! On 9/30 and 10/1 this year, we will hold fundraising dinners at China Harbor Restaurant on the shore of Lake Union in Seattle. Our applied behavior analyst Iris Li and her family of five will come from Southern California to meet you and share her calling and commitment to partner with RM to serve groups with special needs. Of course, in addition to the sharing by our special guests, there will be musical performances and charity sales of a variety of favorite snacks! Many thanks to the many local restaurants in the Greater Seattle area that recognize and support our ministry among the underprivileged. These include the following: -Din Tai Fung -Yea’s Wok -Seattle Fish Guys -Pokeworks -Macadons -Dairy Queen -Miss Boba Thank them for their generosity for donating gift certificates for our lucky draws during our fundraising events! Our program on Saturday 9/30 and Sunday 10/1 will be as follows: 5-6 pm charity sales and lottery tickets 6 pm dinner and a wonderful program 8 pm program ends (but charity sales will be continued). Please remember RM has an appointment with you this fall!! We look forward to seeing you at China Harbor!
